FAQs about Weddings

  • Can we have our ceremony, meal and reception at Gean House?

    Yes everything can be done under one roof at Gean House.

  • How many people can you accommodate?

    For the wedding ceremony we can hold up to 70 guests and up to 120 evening guests. We do not have minimum numbers.

  • How much does it cost to hold a wedding at Gean House?

    Prices vary depending on your needs and requirements, but if you contact one of our co-ordinators, we would be more than happy to provide a tailored quotation. Ask about our special offers, or all-inclusive package prices.

  • Can I hold a date without having to pay a deposit?

    Yes you can provisionally hold a date for up to 2 weeks. After this a £500 deposit is required to secure your wedding date.

  • What availability do you have?

    This can change from day to day so please contact us on 01259 226400

  • How many times do we see you prior to our wedding?

    We will meet with you as often as necessary to make sure your day is perfect. We usually see our couples 6 months before the big day in order to define what you would like for your special day. We would then see you again 6 weeks before your wedding day to finalise arrangements and again 1 week before the event. These are the times that we need to see you however if you need to meet with us out with these times, we are more than happy to arrange this.

  • When do I have to pay for my wedding?

    Once a booking has been made, Gean house will require a £500 non-refundable deposit to secure your date. After this we don't require any further payments till 6 months before the wedding when 50% is due. Full payment is then due no later than 4 weeks before your event.

  • When do I need to confirm final numbers, menus/buffet selections?

    This should be confirmed 4 weeks prior to the event.

  • We are on a strict budget – can you accommodate us?

    Each and every couple is individual and a package can be tailored to suit your needs and budget. To discuss further please call on 01259 226400 or email us

  • Do you recommend any suppliers or accommodation in the area?

FAQs about Celebrations

  • How do I book?

    Please email our co-ordinator who will detail your deposit and payment of your event.

  • What’s the largest party that you can cater for?

    A maximum of 120.

  • Are you ‘child friendly’?

    Yes we are and we can transform one of our rooms (Morning room) into a comfortable retreat for children, we set up a TV/DVD, and games and you can also bring your own entertainment.

  • What are check-in and check-out times?

    Check in is 3pm - check out 11am accordingly. However earlier check-ins are usually available, please contact the co-ordinator for check-in times.

  • Do you allow dogs?

    We are open to discussing this; please contact your co-ordinator for advice.

  • Can you cater for any dietary requirements?

    Yes our Head Chef can cater for all. Please contact beforehand to arrange any special requirements.

  • Can we have live entertainment or a ceilidh band performing?

    Yes Gean House is licensed until 1:00am on Fridays and Saturdays and 12:00 midnight on all other days. Any entertainment will have to cease at this time. We do not have an in-house band/DJ, but we are more than happy to help you find one.

  • Can we bring in our own drinks?

    No all drinks must be purchased from the venue. Unless this is pre-arranged on a ‘corkage’ basis.

  • Do you allow BBQs or celebrations outdoors?

    Yes, weather permitting most celebrations can take place outdoors.

  • Are we allowed to take drinks outdoors?

    Yes, drinks are allowed in the top terrace gardens.

FAQs about Conferences, Seminars & Meetings

  • What does the venue hire include?

    Hire of the venue on your chosen day, full operational support from our co-ordinator to deliver your event on the day.

  • Is there car parking available on site?

    Yes there is ample free parking available.

  • Do you have Wi-Fi?

    Yes we do and it is free to use.

  • Do you provide a projector or screen?

    Yes we provide both.

  • Is there external phone connection, internet access or photocopying facilities within the venue?

    The House has connections for telephones and wireless internet access and photocopying can be arranged by our co-ordinator.

  • What is your cancellation policy for confirmed conferences, meetings etc?

    Cancellation charges will vary depending on the notice period given. Please request our booking terms and conditions.

  • How do I get to the Venue?

    Click here for our directions. Also, if you have a Sat Nav, our postcode is FK10 2EL. Please note that this can direct you into the rear entrance of the estate, but will still get you here ok. We also have ample on-site parking which is free of charge.

    Public transport: we have a bus stop right outside the venue with buses running from Stirling and Alloa regularly. We also have Alloa Train station which is approximately 1 mile from Gean House.

  • What time does the Venue open?

    We are open from 8am Mon-Fri but often offer earlier arrival if it’s pre-arranged. Weekend conferencing facilities are also available by arrangement. Residential conferences will have 24 hour access.

  • Is the Venue wheelchair accessible?

    Yes, we have ramps into the building, most of our meeting rooms (which are wheelchair accessible) are on the ground floor and we have disabled toilets and designated disabled parking on-site.

  • What is included in your delegate rates?

    The day delegate rate includes:

    • Meeting room hire
    • 4 servings of Tea/Coffee throughout the day
    • Finger buffet lunch
    • Pads & pens
    • Mineral water and mints in the meeting room
    • Free Wi-Fi
    • Standard equipment hire (flipcharts, TV/DVD)
    • Reduced ‘Breakout room’ hire
    • We also offer 24hr delegate rates which include Dinner B&B.
  • What happens to items I need delivered to Gean House?

    If you need to deliver equipment or material to Gean House please let us know when it is due to arrive so that we can adequately store them. Contact the co-ordinator to arrange on 01259 226400.
